GHARAUNDA

Gharaunda is a city and a municipal committee in Karnal district in the state of Haryana, India.
Introduction Gharaunda Town is situated at a distance of 106 km from Delhi; mainly on North West of National Highway No-I. It is situated at a distance of 18 km from Karnal the district Head Quarter. The Amritsar-Delhi main broad-gauge railway line passes through the town. Nearest airport is at New Delhi. Gharaunda Railway Station is on the Delhi-Ambala line. STD Code: 1748
Topographical & Geological Conditions: The town is located at latitude of 29° 32' North longitude 76° 59' East. The topography is generally flat at an average level of 237 M above mean sea level. The municipal area of the town is 4.37 km² which does not include the existing and proposed area to be developed by Haryana Urban Development Authority under any town and country planning scheme.

As of 2001[update] India census[2], Gharaunda had a population of 30,179. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Gharaunda has an average literacy rate of 67%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 59%. In Gharaunda, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
INDRI
Indri is a city and a municipal committee in Karnal district in the Indian state of Haryana.
As of 2001[update] India census[1], Indri had a population of 14,515. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Indri has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 68%, and female literacy is 58%. In Indri, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
NILOKHERI
Nilokheri is a city and a municipal committee in Karnal district in the Indian state of Haryana.
It is famous for its Government Polytechnic Institute, where a lot of boys and girls from all over the state learn various engineering disciplines.This town is 145 km from
Delhi on NH 1. After the partition of India, Nilokheri was founded and planned as the new capital of the state of Punjab. Impressed by the planning of the town, Pandit Jawhar Lal Nehru used to call it the town of his dreams. However, the town faced a heavy flood when only 7 of its many planned sectors were developed. In view of this, the capital of Punjab was kept at Chandigarh. Nilokheri produces high quality basmati rice.

TARAORI
Taraori or Tarori, as it is sometimes called in the local dialect, is a city and a Tehsil (Municipal committee) 16 km north of Karnal in Karnal District in the Indian state of Haryana. It was here that in 1191 CE that the Hindu army under Prithviraj Chauhan had defeated the invading army of Muhammad of Ghaur. The following year Ghauri invaded again and defeated Prithviraj's forces at this same site. A wall around the town is now in a dilapidated condition. A mosque and a tank, said to be the works of Aurangzeb, are still in existence.

Taraori has an average literacy rate of 62%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 66%, and female literacy is 56%. In Taraori, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Most of the population works in agriculture, and Taraori has a worldwide reputation for its Basmati Rice. Basmati Rice is exported to the USA, Europe and the Middle East from here. There are a few rice shellers and small industries manufacturing dairy products, honey and so on. This is also one of the most fertile areas of Haryana.
